Critical Context Essay
Paying particular attention to the concept of ‘database cinema’ and key principles of new media proposed by Lev Manovich, discuss the relevance of these statements as a way of understanding ‘the language of new media’.
Database Cinema - The Running Man
For this project we created an application that selected a video at random from a pool of clips and looped this process repeatedly. The clips were filmed in many varying locations but each featured Rob running across the screen. Each clip was carefully set up so as to produce a nearly seamless looping effect no matter what order the clips are played in.

The flash actionscript behind this is flexible enough to allow for any size
puzzle to be created and jumbled as many times as I like. In addition to this,
the difficulty of rotating pieces is also a feature.
